Angileece Williams was just a 15-year-old high school sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio when her teacher told her English class about the Scenarios USA writing contest in which students submit stories and one winner is chosen to have their story made into a film. Though not much of a writer, Angileece submitted a story and it won! Her story, “Life’s Poison,” was chosen from 243 entries and has been made into a feature film by director Malcolme Lee (The Best Man, Undercover Brother). Now a high school junior whose contemplating college programs, Angileece took some time to reflect on why she was motivated to enter the contest and the deeper meaning it has for her and her community.
